The Clearing is nearly complete

Construction of our new outdoor space The Clearing is nearing completion. Built on a former goods yard, The Clearing is a unique space that includes outdoor education space with retractable parachute to provide shelter, wood store, small indoor classroom, small performance area and drying loft for the parachute.  It will be completed by early April 2024.

We are working in partnership with Bexley Early Year's Team and North West Kent Countryside Partnership to develop a new outdoor  curriculum for Reception and Nursery aged children that encourages young children to explore the natural environment.

The Clearing will  become the home of woodland crafts, providing a range of volunteering opportunities in woodland conservation, courses in green woodworking.  We will also be running storytelling workshops, events and courses.  If you have an idea for an activity to deliver in this space please contact us or hire the space please email:- lesnesabbey@bexley.gov.uk

We would like to thank our amazing architects Wonky, who have created such a unique design, Gransdens Construction, who have worked through the wettest winter to build this space and Creative Nature HQ who have created beautiful wood carvings.
